Location: Pézenas was the home of Molière, the celebrated French writer, and he lends his name to various touristic and commercial enterprises in the town. The 'quartier ancien' (old quarter) of the town boasts cobbled streets and grand, imposing buildings, several storeys high, with iron-worked balconies and painted wooden shutters.
Every Saturday Pézenas welcomes a throng of varied market traders for its famous all-day market. Saturday is the day to buy your seasonal produce direct from the farms - wonderful freshly-picked local asparagus, sweet Garriguette strawberries, locally-caught fish, a vast choice of cheeses and meat. And all this on your doorstep!
Pézenas is also a great place to simply hang out and while away the time at your favourite table outside a café, people-watching while you sip on your morning coffee or afternoon beer or glass of rosé.
